Lucky Seven for Limeys!
30 September 2009
Limeys 7 – 0 IPCC
The Limeys were in a vibrant mood at the corn fields, with a whole host of chances being created by this new dynamic lime up. The team were without star man from the first fixture, Diccon, due to ‘failing a late fitness test’ however were boosted by the return of Craig Dews following marathon duties.
From the kick off it was clear that the Limeys were in cruise control with the new look defence made of Ali, Sam and Louis ‘Paolo Di Canio’ Jordan never looking in trouble. It wasn’t long before the goals started coming in thick and fast with Spooner finishing off a slick Limey’s move which involved plenty of passing – Simon Grayson would be proud. In the end goals came from Spooner (2) and Gilo (2) with Joff, Craig and Paolo also chipping in. Goal of the game came from Craig who smashed the ball first time from outside the box into the bottom corner.
Sandra, playing in a more natural position of ACM, displayed some positive and assertive play but was left agonisingly close to her first limeys goals on more that one occasion. First came the missed open goal, secondly the penalty, well saved by the goalkeeper, and thirdly the quick “disco” feet - which led to her shot cannoning of the post, only for Spooner to blast the rebound over.
The new look midfield led to many chances being created and this fixture could have easily ended up 15-0, with the Limeys becoming too relaxed and lacking composure in front of goal.
All in all another great outing for the Limey’s who feel they have yet to play at their best and are real title contenders for this season.
