Tough start to the new campaign for Limeys!

30 September 2009

Limeys 4 – 2 C & R

The start of a new season and the start of a new formation for the Limeys, some new faces to bolster the team.

With Ben Spooner leading the new look Limeys out(in the absence of the injury stricken James Hogben)it wasn’t long before they stamped their authority on the game good play from Diccon, followed by a well executed pass by Gilo, put Sam Keeble through to coolly slot past the Keeper. What followed can only be described as rustiness as skipper Spooner was caught in procession and the opposition made it 1-1. Game on.

Limeys' dominance was rewarded with a second goal early in the second half with Diccon coolly slotting past the oncoming goalkeeper. The pendulum then swung back towards C & R with a quick break away, catching the Limeys on the back foot and leaving Spooner exposed at the back. 2-2

Limeys regrouped and started to play their game, moving the ball around and stretching the opposition, capitalising on this with a fluid move ending in another Diccon finish, 3-2. The game ended with a bizarre own goal from a Charters corner which ricocheted around the area and crossed the line, 4-2 Limeys.

C & R posed a good attacking threat to the Limeys, but the class and organisation proved to be too much for them – a good early season test. Roll on the next game.
